Hey Sakya and/or anyone else that might be able to help!

I just tried installing lightmp3, but I've been having some problems. The PSP I have is a 2000 one. I downloaded version 2.0.0 RC1 and copied the LightMP3 folder to the PSP/GAME folder. When I try to start the program, it says:

The game could not be started.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hey Sakya,

Another great release...

I should've updated mine from RC1 but I didn't, I wasn't updated even though I though was (was enjoying the RC1 ever since it release till today I finally updated to RC4). I keep forgetting to post the bugs I found when playing lightmp3_RC1 during my PSP travels. But here are some I found are fixed and happy with. Some that I found on the few minutes using RC4

Things I am so happy on this release and FIXED:
  • The playlist shuffle is not pre-determine now :)
  • Playlist Editor actually starts playing the track it selected
  • Bug in scrobbler log (Wow, I didn't notice this one, but thank you!)

There some things I found annoying or already posted bug:
  • X/O button swap (on 5.01 M33-6, with O button is selection [Swapped], it uses O to select not X unlike in RC1)
  • Pressing NOTE button to start/play track/song on 'Playlist Editor' it also changes the equalizer
  • When adding playlist.m3u to 'Playlist Editor', it does not show the location of the tracks/song... but it does display the ID3 tags

Otherwise.. Its all good, just as great as RC1 but with my loved fixes on Playlist Editor (combining alot of playlist in to one)....

Just my wish list...
  • Ability add a 2000+ tracks playlist to the 'Playlist Editor' (I dunno if this exist, but from RC1 it exist)
  • Crossfader :) (I bet this is popular feature to ask)
  • Ability to control the Fade on seek/pause/stop/change tracks in milliseconds (like Foobar)
  • Add more playlist file formats like .m3u8, .fpl, .xpsf

Thanks for another great release

Hey There,

I just want to say that LightMP3 has really livened up my use of playing FLAC files on my PSP. I was using FLACPlay for a year now and loved the sound that was pushing into my earbuds, but you had to play each song one by one.

PROS:
This is so great and even better features than Sony's music player that's built in. I love the sleep timer with the option to stop after a song or at the end of the folder. I was happily surprised to find that when I pulled out my headphones, the music paused like the iPod does. The skins on this area really pleasing to the eye as well. Another nice feature is the customizable volume for the mute button.

The volume boost option is really cool, unfortunately the PSP can't handle it and distorts the music when it's turned on.

SUGGESTIONS:
The only enhancement that would be cool but not necessary would be to have a view of a sound wave bars for the different frequencies like a graphic equalizer has.

Overall this is a great application and I will recommend it to all my friends that have CFW PSP's.

Hi,

I'm using over 3700 ATrac3 files on one single MS and even though I can access most of them using the search function, I don't see any album after letter R after I browsed by artist as it goes back to the beginning.
It's about the same thing when browsing by album as only the first 100 albums will appears (or so). While trying the browse all function, I can access all files up to letter S

It's strange cuz I can access the whole library without problem when trying RC3 version. I even tried to scan my music folder with RC3 (all songs/album/artist showed up) than copy the datafile to the RC4 but I end up with the same result as before.

I understand that there might not be any limitations with the amount of files that can be played with light mp3 V 2.00 RC4 but instead a limitation with numbers of files that can be shown in the media library.

Is there any way to add support for foreign character (éèà, etc.)??

Many thanks

Hi!

will there be AAC/ MP4 support?

Maybe I'll add AAC support (if I find the time)...I started to add it (you can try to listen to an AAC but the audio won't be good) but then left it and concentrate on other issues.

@PSXp-ONE: I'm not interested in visualizers (I never watch the display while listening to music) and I don't think I'll add this feature, sorry.

I am sorry to bother you, but maybe you could make like one with support, a simple plugin API for development...I am not sure if that would be too much work though.....But it seems easy!

Guys LightMP3 always crashes on my PSP! Can't seem to find any solution to this issue.
Think it does depend from the fact I'm using a Dual MICRO SD adapter which allows me to expand the memory stick capacity up to 32GB using two 16GB micro SD cards.
Other option could be it conflict with som seplugin. Or maybe the analog nub which is broken.
Dunno! One thing for sure it always worked properly before I begun using the Micro SD adapter.

Here's the Debug snapshot:

I'm desperate I can't use it anymore!!!

Hi Sakya!

I found your great application (v.2 / RC4) yesterday. Tried it and loved it. Especially, the bookmark feature was something I was looking forward to. Sad that you're not developing this homebrew anymore.

sakya wrote:Hi!

many thanks for reporting (again) the bug. :)
I'm sorry, but I'm not working at all on LightMP3 (and maybe will never).

The homebrew could still have had features like:
- Delete mp3-files.
- When you save a bookmark, it should not force you to quit. For example, press triangle if you wish not to quit.
- There could be a menu for bookmarks, 1 for every track. A bookmark is over-written if the same track is bookmarked. These bookmarks could be deleted manually. With this feature, it would be possible to follow several audio books at the same time.
(- And just maybe, m4b support with chapters.)

I still hope you might consider to add the better bookmark support if you have the time. It would be so useful. Anyway, thank you for the excellent work you have done so far! Probably the best mp3-player for PSP.

BUGS IDENTIFIED:

- I tested the homebrew with over 10 hours long mp3. It showed the maximum time to be 01:03:27 even though it was much more. The file played though after this time as it should.
