Playlist creation, Shuffle

Postby efaustus9 » Fri May 22, 2009 4:54 am

The default music solution for the psp is rather poor and I was hoping to find a homebrew solution to greatly improve this aspect. Primarily I am looking to be able to create playlists using files from multiple folders. I have found no instructions on how to create playlists from with in the app yet I would prefer to use my pc for managing playlists. So far LightMP3 can not recognize the .m3u playlists I create in winamp or VLC. I wonder is their an application for the PC that can create playlists in a format that lightmp3 can recognize? I am aware that manually typing them out in notebook would work but that is incredibly cumbersome. If no one is aware of such a solution how do I create and execute the playlists from with in Lightmp3?

Also is there a way to have playback shuffle though all the songs on the device instead of just the songs in a folder?

Read the README.TXT, I think there's some note on playlist... :)
Btw if you press start in file browser or Media Library you can add tracks to the current playlist, then you can save the playlist in the playlist editor.
If you press L+R you will see an help screen with buttons functions.

Scan the ms from the media library tab and then goto media library-->all tracks.

Thanks for the reply. I would also like to commend you on making a truly outstanding music app for the psp. great work. Your instructions worked like a charm. I was wondering are you aware of an app for the PC Win or Linux that will make the m3u's in a format that lightmp3 can comprehend?

There's no need for software.
Just create your m3u with the pc (using the files from your memory stick), then open the m3u file with a text editor and replace all the "\" with a "/" and the drive letter (ex: "G:\") with "ms0:/".
LightMP3 simply needs the full path, so a playlist entry in this format will work:
Code: Select all
ms0:/Music/DirectoryName/fileName.mp3

Put the m3u file in the LightMP3/Playlists directory and you'll see it in the playlist tab.

Thanks again. One last question. Is there a way to lock the face buttons while playback is active? I was trying to use my psp at the gym with your software but I kept brushing buttons while the device was in my pocket.

You can use the "standard" lock button of your psp. ;)
